ARIMIDEX

Arimidex (anastrozole) is an anti-estrogenic medicinal product developed for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. Specifically represents a third generation oral selective aromatase inhibitor. It works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, subsequently blocking the production of estrogen in the body. Since the development of many forms of cancer cells is stimulated by estrogen, reducing levels of this hormone in the body can slow the progressive development of the disease. Such is also the main application of the drug Tamoxifen Citrate except blocks the action of estrogen on the receptor, not endogenous production. The effect of taking anastrozole can be very significant with a daily dose of 1 mg (usually 1 tablet), and this intake allows suppression of estrogen up to 80%. Because of the powerful effect of this drug on the level of hormones, it is usually prescribed only for use by postmenopausal women.

In male athletes who use anabolic steroids anastrozole is taken to minimize the sideeffects associated with elevated estrogen levels caused as secondary effects by taking anabolic/androgenic steroids. Compared to traditional medications such as Tamoxifen and Proviron, anastrozole is significantly more effective at controlling estrogen.
